/in News /by bgexec🩸 Public Access Bleed Kit Now Available in Barnt Green 🩸
There is now public access to a Bleed Kit located inside the defibrillator cabinet outside Branded 4U on Hewell Road (next to the Post Office).
Severe bleeding can become life-threatening within minutes — often before emergency services arrive. To help improve emergency response in the village, the Parish Council has placed a bleed kit inside the existing public defibrillator cabinet, giving bystanders immediate access to potentially life-saving equipment.

A bleed kit contains essential equipment designed to control severe bleeding, including:
• Tourniquets
• Trauma dressings
• Haemostatic gauze
• Gloves
• Scissors
These items are specifically intended for emergencies involving serious blood loss.

The cabinet is locked for security but can be accessed quickly in an emergency by calling 999. The ambulance service will provide the access code and guide you through what to do.

In emergencies such as road traffic collisions, workplace accidents, or public incidents, the bleed kit allows bystanders to:
• Apply pressure to wounds
• Use a tourniquet to control severe bleeding
• Help stabilise a casualty until paramedics arrive
Critical blood loss can occur within just 3–5 minutes, so early intervention can make a vital difference.
