Reason for restriction: Drainage/flood alleviation work. There is a need to close the highway in the following terms:-
The effect of this Notice is that no vehicle shall proceed along that part of the highway from its junction with C2174 Hewell Road to its junction with C2161 Sandhills Road.
This provision shall continue in force for a maximum of 5 days, however, it is anticipated that it will remain in force for 2 days commencing 15 December 2022.
Alternative routes: – C2161 Sandhills Road, C2174 Hewell Road and vice versa.
Nothing in this Notice shall prevent at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the highway, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from and only from the highway.

Bromsgrove District’s annual Christmas Lights Switch On events are returning to the High Street and Rubery this November!
Back on Bromsgrove High Street, the festivities will be kicking off on Saturday 19 November with food and music at Bromsgrove BirdBox, street theatre entertainment and a Christmas Market.
There will be entertainment throughout the afternoon with street performances from 1pm until 5pm along the high street including the Wish Fairies, stilt walking with the Ice people, light walkers and juggling Steve Kaos.
Music at the birdbox will include choirs, singers, and panto characters from 12pm and will be broadcast live by BRMG Radio. Blackwell Concert Band will also be performing on the High Street. Food and drink on offer will include family favourites such as Pizza, Waffles, Candyfloss, hot drinks and more, as well as alcoholic beverages from Woodcote Brewery and Bayley’s of Bromsgrove.
This year everyone can enjoy the countdown and switch-on from anywhere on the High Street at 5pm. The lights will be counted down by Chairman Cllr Rod Laight and helpers at Birdbox and an event compère will throw the switch-on a simultaneous countdown at the Christmas Market outside Argos.
The two-day Christmas Market will take place on 18 and 19 November in line with the switch-on, in partnership with Friends of St Johns. There will be craft stalls hosted by local traders providing gifts and decorations, festive food and drinks, entertainment throughout the day and a countdown for the lights to be switched on at the top of the High Street. The Christmas market will run 9am to 4pm on the Friday and 9am until 6pm on Saturday.
The high street switch on will be followed by the popular Primrose Hospice Tree of Lights switch-on and blessing by Reverend Khan at 6pm outside Asda.
This event has kindly been supported by The Bromsgrove Indie Club, BRMG Radio, Primrose Hospice and Friends of St John’s.
Jo Slade from Friends of St John’s said: “We are looking forward to kicking the festive season off in Bromsgrove with the Christmas Markets. All stall holders are local and talented, so it’ll be a great opportunity to buy locally made gifts and treats. We have a full day of entertainment on Saturday 19th with buskers Billy Smith and Max Stockin, the Rock Choir, Sounds of Steel Drums and Vintage Class Singers will be with us for the Light Switch On at 5pm. Do come along and enjoy the atmosphere.”
The Bromsgrove event will then be followed by more festive fun in Rubery Village on Saturday 26th November on New Road.
The popular annual event in Rubery will this year see Santa turning on the lights at 5pm, alongside the Primrose tree of Lights.
There will also be street theatre acts and entertainment throughout the day from 2.30pm until 5pm including the Wish Fairies, stilt walking with the Ice people and light walkers, and juggling Steve Kaos, as well as performances by local singers Michelle Roberts and Charlie Thompson and more.

Sanders Park will be lighting up the dark winter nights later this month with a twinkling celebration of all thing’s autumn.
“Illuminating Autumn” will run slightly later this year from Thursday 17th and Friday 18th November and boasts a free light trail, music, and food stalls*, for all ages to enjoy, from 5pm until 9pm at Sanders Park.
The light trail will flow around the pathways in the centre of the park with the other entertainment and food stalls located around the café and car park area.
On Friday 18th visitors are also invited to join in with a lantern walk from 6pm, led by Moths at Work, a playful duo, and their illuminated roaming disco. To take part, just bring a lantern and join in the fun.
With increasing costs, security and public health issues in mind, council leaders made the decision to replace the usual bonfire evening with a free, sparkling celebration of Autumn.
Portfolio Holder for Leisure Services, Cllr Michael Thompson, said: “The illuminating autumn event is completely free and a great way to keep the family entertained in the run up to the busy festive period – which starts the following day with Bromsgrove’s Lights Switch On! It is also a more efficient use of public money, as well as being better for the environment, local wildlife, residents who struggle with traditional firework displays due to PTSD or other issues, and it’s a safer option for everyone attending.
“We’ve taken on board the comments from last year’s trial and have developed an even better offering this year. The light trail is set to be beautiful, and the lantern parade headed up by Moths at Work looks very exciting.”

High profile guests to headline 2022 Hate Crime Awareness Conference
As in previous years, the annual Hate Crime Awareness Conference will take place later this month, with three high profile and influential guest speakers.
The 14th of October will return to being an in-person event, hosted by the North Worcestershire Hate Incident Partnership, where residents can hear directly from three special guest speakers as part of Hate Crime Awareness Week.
This year’s high-profile speakers include Azeem Rafiq – inspiring anti-racism campaigner and former professional cricketer at Yorkshire County Cricket Club; the Rt. Hon. Stuart Lawrence – coach, motivational speaker, and the younger brother of hate crime victim Stephen Lawrence; and award-winning music producer Shahid Khan – more commonly known as Naughty Boy – who has worked with some of the biggest artists in the music industry.
The event will run from 10am until 12 noon at Parkside, Market Street, in Bromsgrove and the conference is open to all Partner agencies, Elected Members, and members of the public living and working in North Worcestershire.

Cllr Margaret Sherrey, Bromsgrove District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said: “The message behind Hate Crime Awareness week is a very serious one, and incidents can happen to people from all walks of life. It is important that we voice the stories of those people who have suffered from hate crime so that we can all make changes to ensure this doesn’t happen to others in the future. This year our team have managed to secure some wonderful, high-profile speakers and it looks set to be a very interesting and informative event.”
As well as the Conference, Bromsgrove District residents can help crack down on hate crime by supporting a pop-up event on 11th October, 11am – 2pm, in the Market Area of the High Street.
The information stands at the pop-up event will provide information and materials about what a Hate Crime is, how it can be reported and what support is available to victims and witnesses. The information stands will be supported by West Mercia Police, the Council’s Community Safety Team, Housing Associations, Victim Support, and other key partners.
The North Worcestershire Hate Incident Partnership members have been working together to devise a programme of activities across the districts in support of the national weeklong campaign. These activities are intended to raise awareness of how to recognise Hate Crime and encourage members of the public to report incidents whether they are a victim, a witness or third party.
