Big discounts to replace an old or broken oil boiler

Government-led energy company funding is available.  Call Act on Energy today on 0800 988 2881

The funding is time limited and expected to last to the end of June at the latest.

This is particularly important for rural areas as the government may be discontinuing  government-led funding towards oil boilers from this summer.

The county councillor Peter McDonald has provided the following information –

The sections of roads to be closed are:

  1. For a distance of 170m SW from Jcn with B4120 Kendal End Road

The reason for the road closure is stated as follows:

It will require planning / resurfacing in various areas however the main areas are Fiery Hill Road (opposite new development access approx. 50m from junction with Kendal End Road) & the mini roundabout at junctions of B4120 Bittel road / Hewell Road. As HRA with chippings and existing road width they need a temporary closure probably over 2 days”

CCTV message from local police team

CCTV, can I use it? Do need it?

There a number of ways in which you can help improve the security of your home and property. You may wish to consider purchasing a CCTV system. CCTV can help deter, detect and identify criminals.

CCTV can be an effective tool. It can discourage anti-social behaviour and reduce crime because offenders do not want to be caught on camera.

The first thing you need to consider is if you really do need CCTV. In the first instance you may wish to consider looking at other, less costly ways to improve the security of your home before considering purchasing a good quality CCTV system.

If you own the property then it is perfectly legal to install CCTV to protect your property against intruders and trespassers. However, you cannot put cameras up on other peoples property without their consent.

Whilst it is lawful for you to monitor your own property for security purposes, you should however make sure that your field of view does not extend beyond your boundaries or focused on adjacent private areas.

For more information visit the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) website: https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/cctv-on-your-property/ for their CCTV codes of practice document. You can also phone the ICO helpline on 0303 123 1113, the helpline is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Crime Prevention

Marking your property is a positive way to fight crime, it can act as a deterrent, it allows you to prove ownership and helps you to identify your property easily if it is offered for sale. Marking your property also provides a means for the police to identify stolen goods and return them to their owners.

There are a number of ways to mark your property including utilising visible markers such as permanent marker pens, waterproof paint, stencils, engraving and specialised overt marking kits which are available on the market.

You can also use invisible markers such as UV pens or specialised forensic kits such as Smartwater.

Smartwater have recently reduced their standard price for a home marking kit from £68 to £25 which is available to anyone.

Smartwater is currently working in partnership with West Mercia Police and is providing an offer for residents to purchase a standard home marking kit for a discounted price of £19.95.

Any residents wishing to purchase Smartwater at this reduced price can do so by calling Smartwater on 0333 370 7797 and quoting “WDBC”.
