Come and join us on this relaxed Summer evening stroll on our lovely parish paths taking in 4.5 miles of history and countryside scenery. It is FREE and all are welcome, including dogs on leads and children, although the paths will not be suitable for pushchairs.

The Water Management team for North Worcestershire is putting together a comprehensive list of flooding hot-spots. If you have experienced any flooding lately, please let us know so that appropriate measures can be put in place.

Due to snow in March the Barnt Green Fun Run (in aid of Sport Relief) was cancelled.The Parish Council and Barnt Green Chuggers with sponsorship by Provest Wealth Management, have rescheduled the run to 24th June.All those who originally registered to run and still have their numbers are welcome to run and new registrations can be made at either St Andrews First School (during school hours) or the Post Office (during normal opening hours).Even though the Sport Relief ‘day’ is over, a donation will still be made to that cause from the entrance fees.Refreshments and food will be available after the run so please come along to Millennium Park on Hewell Road from 12pm on the day (even if not running) to help the runners celebrate and enjoy the event.Costs of the run are – £2.50 child; £5 adult; £10 family (2 adults 2 children or 1 adult 3 children).

The funding is time limited and expected to last to the end of June at the latest.
This is particularly important for rural areas as the government may be discontinuing government-led funding towards oil boilers from this summer.

Road closure will be in place Tuesday and Wednesday 15th and 16th May 9.30am – 3.30pm. No closure on Thursday and Friday 17th and 18th May but closures will be back in place on Saturday and Sunday 19th and 20th May for resurfacing. Situation should all be back to normal by Monday 21st May.
These roadworks have a wide impact due to the lengthy detour involved.

There will be no vehicular access through the road closure as the road will be being fully excavated.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
The reason for the road closure is stated as follows:
“WestPoint have to undertake surfacing remedials at the above location due to HRA material failure. It will require planning / resurfacing in various areas however the main areas are Fiery Hill Road (opposite new development access approx. 50m from junction with Kendal End Road) & the mini roundabout at junctions of B4120 Bittel road / Hewell Road. As HRA with chippings and existing road width they need a temporary closure probably over 2 days”

There a number of ways in which you can help improve the security of your home and property. You may wish to consider purchasing a CCTV system. CCTV can help deter, detect and identify criminals.
CCTV can be an effective tool. It can discourage anti-social behaviour and reduce crime because offenders do not want to be caught on camera.
The first thing you need to consider is if you really do need CCTV. In the first instance you may wish to consider looking at other, less costly ways to improve the security of your home before considering purchasing a good quality CCTV system.
If you own the property then it is perfectly legal to install CCTV to protect your property against intruders and trespassers. However, you cannot put cameras up on other peoples property without their consent.
Whilst it is lawful for you to monitor your own property for security purposes, you should however make sure that your field of view does not extend beyond your boundaries or focused on adjacent private areas.

Marking your property is a positive way to fight crime, it can act as a deterrent, it allows you to prove ownership and helps you to identify your property easily if it is offered for sale. Marking your property also provides a means for the police to identify stolen goods and return them to their owners.
There are a number of ways to mark your property including utilising visible markers such as permanent marker pens, waterproof paint, stencils, engraving and specialised overt marking kits which are available on the market.

Flute and Harp Classics played by Charlotte Thomas (flute), Bethan Griffiths (harp) known as Hefin Flute and Harp Duo
Charlotte and Bethan met as members of the North Wales Youth Orchestra in 2010 and started playing together the following year. They have gone on to perform at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and Chester Music Society. They are both very talented musicians, Bethan having been playing the harp since the age of ten; this should be a really enjoyable evening.
It will be a mixed programme featuring the work of JS Bach, Debussy, Rossini and others.
