Wassailing Walk, 27th December 2017

Take the opportunity to walk off the Christmas indulgences and join us for the first Barnt Green Wassailing Walk on Wednesday 27th December.

There is a choice of two distances but both will meet up at the same time and place – a local orchard – where we will make lots of noise and hang toast on the trees to encourage next year’s apple crop.

Meet in Millennium Park at 2.30pm for a 4.5 miles walk, or at 3pm for 3.3 miles walk.

Bring pots and pans, wear boots and warm clothes, and carry a torch in case it is dark on the route back.  There will be the opportunity to sample mulled apple juice and cider.  Dogs on leads welcome.

Barnt Green Lights On, Saturday 2nd December

Come and join in the fun in Barnt Green village on Saturday 2nd December ready for the main lights switch-on at 5pm.

Blackwell Concert Band will be playing during the afternoon, the shops will be offering Christmas treats, drinks will be available from the park, there might be an elf or two wandering about and a local choir will be singing in the park!

The special children’s lights near to the school will be turned on at 4.30pm, just before the main lights switch on from Millennium Park at 5pm.

Opportunity to sign for cheaper energy tariff

Bromsgrove District Council are partners in a Worcestershire County Council initiative to encourage residents to sign up to access a potentially cheaper energy tariff.

Worcestershire Collective Energy Switch is open to all those in Worcestershire, with registration closing at midnight on October 9th 2017. Energy companies are then asked to bid against each other to offer the best deal and the cheapest price is offered to all those who registered. This may not be the best deal for everyone, depending on their specific circumstances…but the council’s energy advice partners Act on Energy are on hand on 0800 988 2881 to help people decide. There is no obligation to take the deal offered and the service is free.  For those who do decide to accept the deal, independent experts in group buying schemes iChoosr take care of the whole switching process, meaning the whole thing is as smooth and hassle-free as possible.

Find out more and register here: www.worcestershire.gov.uk/energyswitch or by calling Act on Energy on 0800 988 2881

There is an information and registration event in Bromsgrove Library next Wednesday 27th September 10am – 4pm
